WHICH METAL SHOULD I USE?
Sterling Silver
Jump rings made from sterling silver are heavy and strong.
Sterling Silver jump rings can be used with any grade of silver charms from 800 to 925.
I have even used sterling silver rings with white gold charms.
Silver Plate
Jump rings that are silver plated are made of brass and covered with 99.9% sterling silver.
They have the same look as sterling silver jump rings but the price point is more affordable.
They can be used with any grade of silver charms from 800 to 925.
They can also be used with white gold charms.
WHICH JUMP RING SIZE IS RIGHT FOR ME?
4mm ~ 20 gauge (This is the smallest size and it has the least thickness)
This size is great for small charms hanging from a thin charm bracelet.
It's also perfect for many of the small
charms from the 1930's and 1940's.
This 4mm size works well for any charm that has an extra small integral loop
Simply add a 6mm jump ring to the 4mm jump ring to attach the charm
to an average sized link charm bracelet.
6mm ~ 18 gauge (This is the average size and average thickness. It's the perfect size for most charms and charm bracelets.)
This size is the charmers staple jump ring. It's perfect for just about any charm and
fits through most charm bracelet links.
8mm ~ 16 gauge (This is the largest size and the thickest one).
This 8mm size is perfect for lar
ger sized charms and larger sized charm bracelet links,
for example a thick double or triple link charm bracelet.
This 8mm size may be perfect for your charm bracelet, but the wire maybe too thick
to go through the top loop of your charm.
Simply add a 4mm or 6mm jump ring to the charm and slip that through
the 8mm ring you attached to your charm bracelet.
